Veterinary Assistant/ Doggy Daycare Attendant
Emily
Emily has a kind heart and is such a delight to work with each day. We were thrilled when she joined our MRAH Fam!
Emily has always loved animals, but more specifically dogs, for as long as she can remember. Her love of dogs began early because she grew up around her dad who was a huge dog lover. He told her he knew she was going to be a lot like him, because when Emily would see a dog on the street as a little girl, she instantly would want to say hi or give them a hug, no matter their size. This led Emily to working at a doggy daycare as her first job. Through working in doggy daycare, and later as a veterinary assistant, she gained a deeper understanding and appreciation towards dog behavior. She especially grew a soft spot for dogs that are a little more hesitant and just need a little more patience, and love. Emily has one dog who is a reservation rescue from New Mexico. Her name is Nellie, for being such a “Nervous Nellie”. Emily met Nellie while she was boarding at her old job, and the rest is history! Emily was born and raised in Colorado, but hopes to move to the East Coast one day, hopefully to Maine! Emily is a big fan of music, and thoroughly enjoys going to folk/bluegrass concerts. She also loves playing music, and singing; but only to Nellie, or her close friends. On top of music, she plays tennis, knits, and she is learning how to sew. She would also consider watching planes take off and land as a hobby (she is a big fan of aviation, and hopes to get her private pilot's license one day).
Tidbit’s & Trifles:
Fashionista: She is a big fan of fashion, and wearing outfits she enjoys (which means she has a collection of fun patterned overalls)!
CO Pups: Growing up, her family used to name their dogs after roads in Colorado. First they had Colfax, then the second Colfax (both German Shepherds), and then Kipling (an Aussie Mix)
Travelin’ Treat Lady: Emily’s brother got married in Turkey, and she knew there would be stray dogs there, so she came fully prepared with dog treats and befriended every dog she met!
A Day in the Life:
“I love being able to work with people who understand animals and how animal lovers think. Every day I come into work, wonderful people, who feel like family, surround me. Even if one of us might be having a rough day, we will be there for each other, or a puppy might come in, and you instantly have a smile on your face. I love the animals, and that is a big reason why I love this job, but the people really make it!”
